No school like the new school.
After his two wins at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix (6.53) and Millrose Games (6.50) 60m dash, Marvin Bracy is the real deal Holyfield. The former two-sport Florida State University star left for adidas last year and the decision looks to be a wise one. He spent much of last summer running low 10.x in Europe (Lapinlahti, Ljubljana, Hilversum certainly roll off the tongue), but he did some away with a new 100m PR of 10.09.
Now, he’s #5 in the world in the 60m.
He’s a lock to make the team. Which U.S. athlete, that Bracy has beaten this indoor season, will join him in Sopot, Poland?
If current form is the deciding factor, then ASICS D’Angelo Cherry is a good pick. The former Mississippi State star stormed onto the national scene with big wins in consecutive weeks last winter. First, he dropped a huge 6.49 altitude adjusted PR to win the 2013 USATF Indoor Championship. Then, he came back five days later to not only win his heat at the NCAA Indoor Championships, but take the whole thing in 6.54i.
Most recently, at the Millrose Games, Cherry finished second to Bracy in 6.54. So what's not to like? He was fifth at NBIGP in 6.61.

Another young star who turned heads last winter is former Colorado Buffaloes standout Joe Morris. We saw him run a big early season 60m last year (6.57A in early January), which earned him an invite to the Millrose Games. He was fifth last year at NCAAs.
He's run an altitude converted 6.53 (which was a world leader and a *personal best) and finished second at NBIGP in 6.55.

If you don’t want to discount the savvy veterans, then Mike Rodgers is a good pick. Rodgers was the national champion in the event twice in 2008 and 2011, plus, he picked up a world silver medal in 2010. He was third at NBIGP in Boston, behind Bracy and Morris.
