USATF Indoor Championships: Women's 60mH preview
Five women are seeded under 8.10, but only two will make the trip to Sopot, Poland.
Candice Price has a lot of experience at running at altitude this winter and is the field’s top seed. The 2008 World Indoor 60mH silver medalist has run 8.23A and 8.21 in Albuquerque, NM and 8.07A and 8.00A in Flagstaff, AZ.
Behind her is a familiar name in the 100mH world, Nia Ali. The 2013 World Championship team member has run 8.02A, which was also at altitude in Albuquerque. Additionally, she’s set an indoor 60m PR this winter with a 7.43 mark from the Washington Indoor Preview.
One to keep an eye on is Kristi Castlin. Although she’s seeded at 8.02 (her time from January 30), she recently just finished second at the Millrose Games 60mH in 7.93.
But the favorite is the 2012 Olympic long jump bronze medalist, Janay DeLoach Soukup. Yes, really.
DeLoach Soukup has run the 60mH since 2009, but has really come into form this winter. Most recently, she took the win and set a PR at the Millrose Games, where she broke the tape in 7.91. That was #1 in the world.
Jackie Coward rounds out the potential challengers with her 8.06 mark from the Tune-Up Invitational in Houston, TX.
