Will Geoghegan to Oregon
Dartmouth standout Will Geoghegan will use his final year of NCAA eligibility to run for the Oregon Ducks in 2014-2015. The Brunswick, Maine native still has eligibility for another indoor and outdoor season after this spring. He was reportedly considering Texas, Colorado, Ohio State and Stanford before making his decision to join coach Andy Powell’s distance squad for the Ducks.
On Twitter, Geoghegan said he will be pursuing his masters degree in computer and information science.
QUACK QUACK! I'll be joining @OregonTF as a 5th year next year while getting a Master's in Computer and Information Science!

The 2013-2014 indoor season was a breakout year for the Big Green senior. In January, Geoghegan came into the year with a personal best of 4:05.71 for the mile. Jan. 25 would be a magical night as he set a Dartmouth and Ivy League indoor mile record as he ran 3:58.04 at Boston University’s Terrier Invitational.
He finished fifth for the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 15. It was his first time on a national championship stage for track.
In November, Geoghegan earned All-American honors in cross-country with a 14th place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships with a time of 30:22.1 for 10-kilometers.
Geoghegan’s decision to attend Oregon comes one week after fellow Ivy Leaguer Maksim Korolev announced he will use up his remaining eligibility at Stanford.
