Blake out for 2014 season
Jamaica’s Yohan Blake is out of the remainder of the 2014 season, according to Rex Gowar of Reuters. The 24-year-old injured his hamstring during the Glasgow Diamond League Men’s 100-meters.

“The injury was quite severe and the original prognosis was misdiagnosed and he went Germany and when they had a good look, they realized that it was more serious and required surgery, so he’ll be out for quite a long time,” Blake’s coach Glen Mills told Reuters.

Blake’s injury was initially diagnosed as a cramp, but after a second diagnosis, it was later revealed to be more severe.

With next week’s Commonwealth Games off the calendar, the Olympic 100-meter and 200-meter silver medalist now looks towards the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

“It was a tough decision to make but when I was talking to my manager and my coach, they both said I had to get back to the level I was at before because there is the World Championships and Olympics coming up in the next couple of years,” Blake told The Guardian. “I have to be at my best for that.”
