Tom Farrell joins OTC
Former Oklahoma State Cowboy Tom Farrell has joined the Nike Oregon Track Club and will be coached by Mark Rowland.
Farrell spent his summer setting personal bests in Europe as he ran 3:37.90 for 1,500-meters, 7:57.2 for 3,000-meters and 8:30.39 for two-miles. He finished seventh at the Commonwealth Games 5,000-meter run ahead of Olympian Nick Willis.
Farrell was a part of three NCAA Cross-Country Championship teams with the Cowboys. He redshirted when Ryan Vail, Colby Lowe, John Kosgei, Girma Mecheso and German Fernandez won the team title in 2009, but contributed to the 2010 victory. After losing to the Wisconsin Badgers in 2011, the Cowboys returned to glory and won the 2012 title.
Farrell will complement 13:02 5,000-meter runner Hassan Mead well in the Eugene-based training group.
