In a tight battle between Doha, Barcelona, and Eugene, the affluent and fast-growing city of Doha won yet another global sporting event after securing the host nation position for the 2022 World Cup. The United States has never hosted a World Championship Outdoor Track Event, but Portland, OR will play host to the 2016 World Indoor Track Championships.
