Suspended Peterson Considering a Career in Track

An arbitrator upheld Adrian Peterson's suspension from the NFL on Friday.
Embattled NFL running back Adrian Peterson might be coming to a track near you.
The Minnesota Vikings star, whose year long suspension was upheld by an arbitrator on Friday, is considering a career in track and field, with his eyes set on making an Olympic team in either the 200 or 400 meters. Peterson spoke with ESPN after learning of the decision, and told Ben Goessling that he has not ruled out retiring from the NFL altogether to pursue other options. Peterson told Goessling that he’s thought about the Olympics, adding “I’ve seriously thought about this real hard. I continue to pray about it, but it’s been something that has been heavy, heavy on my heart.”
The 29-year-old has been without a job since September after his indictment by a grand jury for child endangerment. On November 4th, Peterson pleaded no contest to the charge of recklessly assaulting his four-year-old son. The 2x MVP plans to file a lawsuit against the NFL, which could hurt his chances of being reinstated by the league.
In addition to being a five-star football recruit, Peterson excelled on the track. Peterson ran personal bests of 10.19, 21.23, and 47.6 seconds in high school before ultimately deciding to focus on football when he attended the University of Oklahoma.
