Emotional Nick Willis After Running 3:29Let’s go back to July, when one of the fastest 1500m fields in history raced at the Monaco Diamond League. The race was touted as a world record attempt, and although the record would remain intact, Silas Kiplagat led a group of seven men under 3:30, among them New Zealander Nick Willis.
After realizing that he had run 3:29.91 and accomplished his lifetime goal of breaking 3:30, the Olympic silver medalist was overcome with emotion. “The weight of the lifelong goal just hit me and I just broke down in tears, uncontrollably,” Willis said. Watch as Willis reflects on a milestone that means everything to him.
