Dennis Kimetto’s Marathon World Record
In September at the Berlin Marathon, Dennis Kimetto made history by breaking the world record with a title-winning performance of 2:02:57. The previous record of 2:03:23 was set by Wilson Kipsang at last year’s race in Berlin, and Kimetto’s performance marked the sixth consecutive marathon world record set at the event. Both Kimetto and runner-up Emmanuel Mutai (2:03:13) broke the previous world record as well as the 30-K record mark (1:27:37). The former farmer from Kenya became the first man in history to break the 2:03 barrier, and easily takes our vote for #1 Performance of 2014.
