2015 NCAA Women's Triple Jump Preview

Ciarra Brewer, Florida (PB 13.91m)
Last Year: 14th Indoors, 3rd Outdoors
Brewer has been one of the most consistent jumpers in the country over the last few years. She has racked up five top-6 finishes in the event during her Gator career, and her third place finish outdoors in 2014 was the highest of her career. The junior won SEC titles indoor and outdoor in 2014, and placed 2nd at USAs to cap off her outstanding year. With Shanieka Thomas of San Diego State now graduated, this event is Brewer’s to lose.

Marshay Ryan, Auburn (PB 13.60m)
Last Year: 2nd Indoors, N/A Outdoors
Ryan had an outstanding freshman year in the triple jump. She finished runner-up at the NCAA indoor championships, and finished as the top American at World Juniors. Ryan just missed qualifying for NCAA outdoors, but her seventh place finish a month later at Worlds more than made up for that. She set her PB of 13.60 at that event, which would have been good for second at NCAAs.

LaQue Moen-Davis, Texas A&M (PB 13.64m)
Last Year: 4th Indoors, 2nd Outdoors
Outside of indoor and outdoor champion Shanieka Thomas, Moen-Davis had the best combined 2014 season between indoor and outdoor. The Aggie was fourth in Albuquerque, and improved all the way to second in Eugene, the highest finish of her career. Moen-Davis managed to beat Florida’s Brewer at NCAA outdoors, who had jumped 13.91m just two weeks prior.

Tori Franklin, Michigan St. (PB 13.56m)
Last Year: 5th Indoors, 13th Outdoors
Franklin recorded the third best jump of indoors in 2014. The Spartan junior placed fifth at the indoor championships, and enters 2015 as the third highest returner from last season. Franklin did not jump as well outdoors, placing thirteenth, but she was fourth in 2013, so she may have just had an off day. She will look to follow through on the promise she showed as a freshman in 2012, where she finished 2nd indoors.

Nickevea Wilson, UTEP (PB 13.23m)
Last Year: 8th Indoors, 10th Outdoors
Wilson showed massive improvement in 2014, breaking 13m for the first time and cracking the top 10 indoors and outdoors. Wilson set her PB of 13.38w with only 2.1 m/s wind reading at the Conference USA championships, winning the third conference title of her career. Look for Wilson to improve on her eighth place finish from 2014.
