McConaughey Set to Star in 'Born to Run' Film
According to several entertainment media sites, Matthew McConaughey has been cast to star in the film adaptation of the book “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen.”
The book, written by Christopher McDougall, describes a journey to the Copper Canyon of Mexico to learn the secret about the Tarahumara Indian tribe and their renowned running ability. McConaughey is set to play an award-winning journalist and often-injured runner who investigates the tribe’s running culture.
The book was released in 2009 and has since spent 178 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and is still selling 10,000 copies a month.
Deadline.com reports that the film is being produced by Mickey Liddell, Deb Newbyer and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. It is being mobilized by Di Bonaventura Pictures, Outlaw Productions and LD Entertainment.
