Flotrack to Host First Ever Flotrack Throwdown

Flotrack will host the first ever Flotrack Throwdown, on August 8 in Portland, Oregon. The event will call on the sport's top athletes to gather and throw down on the track in an interactive, festival-style atmosphere for track fans around the world to enjoy.
“I am excited to announce our second track event. The Flotrack Throwdown will feature the world's best runners competing in front of the country's rowdiest fans in the heart of Rip City,” Co-Founder Mark Floreani said.
Set in the unique city of Portland, Oregon, the Flotrack Throwdown will break the typical mold of a track meet.
“In true Portland and Flotrack style, this will not be your ordinary meet. We will have good food, good beer, lawn games, prizes, and a new interactive way to compensate athletes. It will also be the last meet to qualify for the 2015 World Champs in Beijing,” Floreani said.
The meet will take place on August 8, 2015, just in time for the IAAF qualification deadline of Aug. 10, giving a last chance opportunity to athletes looking to take advantage of the new World Championships descending order qualification system. The event will also introduce a new interactive way to compensate athletes in addition to the general prize purse.
Featuring live music from local bands, interactive games, famous Portland eats and breweries in a festival atmosphere, the Flotrack Throwdown will be both an elite-level event and celebration of the sport of track and field. With the goal of uniting both fringe track fans and the hard core running community, the Flotrack Throwdown seeks to elevate the sport of track and field in a fun, exciting environment for all audiences.
