Syracuse U. Sprinter Found Dead In NYC Hotel

Sabrina Cammock (529) was found dead in her NYC hotel room on Saturday.
A member of the Syracuse University track team was found dead in a New York City hotel room on Saturday morning.
Sabrina Cammock, a senior sprinter from Queens, was found unresponsive in her room at the Hotel Edison on W. 47th Street around 9:20 a.m. yesterday morning. First responders tried to save her, but it was too late. No signs of trauma were reported, with the medical examiner left to determine the cause of death.
The 21-year-old Cammock was reportedly sharing the room with a group of friends after a night of celebrating. Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol had anything to do with her death, although no sign of drug use was found in the room.
“Sabrina was a wonderful and remarkable person and student-athlete. Our team and coaching staff are devastated by her loss. All of our thoughts are with Sabrina’s family and friends,” said Syracuse head track and field coach Chris Fox, in a statement.
Cammock was a member of the school record 4x100m relay team at Syracuse. She competed last week in the 60m at the ACC Indoor Championships, placing 13th.
Justyn Knight, a teammate of Cammock at Syracuse, took to Twitter to mourn the loss.
