Jordan Hasay of the Nike Oregon Project has been forced to scratch from the USA Outdoor Championships due to injury and will thus be ineligible to compete at the World Championships in Beijing in August.

In a post on her website, Hasay, 23, cited sever tendonitis as well as lingering issues with plantar fasciitis as causing her to pull out of the 5000m and 10,000m races this weekend. Apparently both conditions worsened after she competed at the Portland Track Festival.

“After working so hard to come back to be able to compete at USAs it has been heartbreaking to have to pull out of racing this week,” Hasay wrote. “At this time I need to be smart though and think about my long term goals. Short term, I will be totally focused on getting my foot 100 percent healthy with the hopes of racing later this summer/fall.

“Having never had an injury before, these past few months have been a huge learning experience for me with lots of challenges. I am determined to use these challenges to make me a better athlete and I hope anyone else out there who has struggled or is struggling with an injury will be able to find inspiration through my story.”

Hasay finished 12th in the 10,000m at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.
