Maggie Vessey, Andrew Wheating Confirmed for FloTrack Throwdown

It just keeps getting better! The FloTrack Throwdown is proud to announce the additions of Maggie Vessey and Andrew Wheating at the August 8th track meet in Portland.

As one of the top 800m runners in the U.S., Vessey is fresh off a win at the Edmonton Track Town Classic, just missing the sub-2:00 barrier, running 2:00.16. Her season best of 2:00.05 came at the USATF Outdoor Championship semi-final. She unfortunately suffered a fall in the finals and placed eighth.

Vessey’s PB of 1:57.84 makes her a huge threat in the race, where she’ll go up against Brooks Beast member Katie Mackey, among others.

In the men’s 800m, Andrew Wheating will sharpen his tools against Team USA qualifier and Brooks Beast Casimir Loxsom. Wheating most recently placed fifth in the 1500m at the USATF Outdoor Championships, but was a two-time NCAA 800m champ while at the University of Oregon and 2008 Olympian in the event. His personal best mark is 1:44.56.
