BEIJING - Two-time World champion and 2015 US champion Trey Hardee has withdrawn from the decathlon at the 2015 IAAF World Championships due to an injury.

 

The 31-year-old Hardee reportedly sustained a lower back injury while taking attempts in the long jump, although the extent of the injury was not immediately known. The Olympic silver medalist completed three of the 10 events in the decathlon before his withdraw, that being the 100m, shot put, and long jump. 

 

Hardee was in 26th place at the time of his departure from the competition. 

 

Currently, Olympic and World champion Ashton Eaton is leading the competition with 2830 points through three events, including a 10.23 season's best in the 100m.
