my sister recently gave birth to a 7lb 15oz little man. i'm an uncle! so with the trials, my sister having a baby, beijing preparations, moving apartments, and training all happening from july 1st to the 29th... i'll be pretty busy.

i'm trying not to lose sight of the forest because of the trees, but sometimes it can seem overwhelming. there are minute details that provide a certain level of comfort that you're accustomed to when you travel or compete. well, i am learning, when you go to china on someone else's bill, those things go by the wayside and you've just gotta get there.

you've gotta be fit, sharp, fresh, and ready to roll. no one remembers 4th place. americans are watching. you're representing your country. all these things are banging around in your head as you try to get a good night's sleep so you can train well the next day.

i'm taking solace in the fact that God has brought me to this place... at this time... for a reason. a reason i believe to be a defining moment, greatness. He will see me through any adversity, any adversary, any-thing. i appreciate all the prayers, thoughts, and well wishing i've recieved the last 24 years of my life. keep 'em coming!!

a side note: i don't know how many other universities are represented at the olympics, but with swimming/diving, softball, track and field, and coaches (2 head coaches, 2 assistant coaches), the University of Texas will have 21 Longhorns in beijing!!!!!! it'll be nice to have some familiar faces in china!
