Final Call

8:40pm
It's the evening of the 24th here and that means there's just one night of sleep between me and the most prestigious race of my life so far. Not to worry though, the hard work has been done and because of that all I need to do is what I'm capable of in order to execute a respectable performance. You have to be one of the best to even make it this far and that fact alone gives me confidence going into this prelim.
Despite all of this though... I'm still nervous as anything. :)
Heather and I did a little shake-out earlier today at the practice track and then kind of hung out the rest of the day waiting for my team meeting. We had a long and tedious meeting with the whole team followed by pictures and then dinner. It's all coming together and I'm glad I'm getting started right away. My event is the first day and I'm in the first heat. Not much to think about except getting the race going and positioning myself to make the final.
I want to make that final so badly. I want to come here and make the most of it. I'm just practicing staying calm and taking it all in and enjoying what I do best. I have a joy about what I do and I pray that envelops me tomorrow.
As Mark would say, "Good night, and good luck."
