We developed a formula to rank the top 25 athletes in NCAA Division I track and field based on who will make the most impact at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
This week's rankings show a mixup at the top! Purdue senior, Chuck Enekwechi is now a '2 throw' athlete with his most recent 19.79m shot put throw, #6 in the NCAA. On the women's side, Kansas State's Akela Jones leapfrogged fellow pentathlete Kendell Williams with her 8.05 60m hurdles, #2 in the NCAA.
FloTrack Power Rankings Criteria:
- 2015 Indoor NCAA Performance
- 2015 Outdoor NCAA Performance
- 2015 Indoor Best Mark (2014 if redshirted 2015)
- 2016 Indoor Best Mark
Before we get into the rankings it is important to note that freshmen are not included in the top 25 due to having zero NCAA championship performances on their resume. As a result, here are the notable freshmen who could potentially crack the top 25 as the season progresses.
Notable Freshmen:
Donavan Brazier (Texas A&M)
Justyn Knight (Syracuse)
Allie Ostrander (Boise State)
Alexis Weeks (Arkansas)
