Did you happen to catch the NBA Slam Dunk Contest this weekend? There were some impressive performances. So impressive that television scientist John Brenkus decided he would break it down on ESPN's Sports Science.
Wait. Did he just say Aaron Gordon would have won an Olympic bronze medal in London in the high jump?!
While it may be true that Gordon jumped 7 ft. 7 inches while dunking a ball. Do we really think that jumping over the Orlando Magic mascot and a high jump bar is really the same thing?
The Olympic bronze medal in 2012 was shared by three young men, 2014 World Indoor Champion Mutaz Essa Barshim, 2015 World Champion Derek Drouin, and Robbie Grabarz.
I think the best way to settle this would be to have Barshim put his Olympic bronze medal on the line and have a high jump competition with the NBA Slam Dunk Champion.
