The fastest half-miler the world has ever seen, David Rudisha, began his season once again with a victory Down Under at the IAAF World Challenge in Melbourne, this time in a World-leading 1:44.78. This is the fifth time Rudisha has won in Melbourne.

It certainly wasn't easy for the reigning World and Olympic champ, however, as 20-year-old Aussie Luke Mathews ran a 1:45.16 PR to nab second behind the Kenyan and secure the Olympic standard.
