2016 NCAA Steeplechase Champion Mason Ferlic has signed a professional contract with Nike. The University of Michigan graduate debuted his new kit at the TrackTown Summer Series, where he finished runner-up behind 2x Olympian Donn Cabral with a 6-second personal best of 8:21.57.
Ferlic is coming off a fifth-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials and winning his first NCAA title in June. He signed with agent Dan Lilot and Aurum Sports Group shortly after NCAAs in a solo effort. Watch the race below:
Ferlic plans to stay in Ann Arbor and train with University of Michigan distance coach Kevin Sullivan. "Sully and I work well together," Ferlic told FloTrack after his race in Eugene. Since being named Head Coach in July of 2014, Sullivan led the Wolverines to a Big Ten cross country title in his second season. Additionally, Ferlic lowered his steeplechase time from 8:38 to 8:21.
He plans to compete in the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile next on September 5.
