The speedy couple of David Verburg and Cassandra Tate got engaged on Tuesday after Verburg proposed to his girlfriend while on vacation in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Both athletes captured photos of the moment and posted them on their respective social media accounts.
"She said yes!!! Getting married to my best friend," Verburg wrote on his Instagram that showed a photo of the couple on a sail boat.
Verburg just concluded a season that was highlighted by competing in his first Olympic Games of his career. He finished fifth in his semifinal section of the 400m in Rio. Tate earned a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.
