No. 2 ranked high school senior Kate Murphy of Lake Braddock, Virginia has verbally committed to the University of Oregon.

Murphy told FloTrack recently that her top three schools were Virginia, Villanova and Oregon.

The announcement comes weeks after Gordon Mack asked if Murphy was on the verge of a historic senior season, comparing her mile/1500m and 3000/3200m marks with the best preps in history. Her 1500m PB of 4:07.21 ranks No. 3 all-time, and her 3000m mark of 9:10.51 ranks No. 8 all-time.

She was one of two high schoolers (Stanford freshman Christina Aragon) that qualified for the Olympic Trials 1500m this summer and finished fourth in the semi-final in 4:14. She went on to finish 12th in the 3000m at the IAAF World U20 Championships.
