After winning the 3K at the UW Indoor Preview, Grace told FloTrack that her previous contract with Oiselle was up on January 1 and that she was in negotiations with potential sponsors. Before pacing the mile on Saturday, Grace announced on Twitter that she would be in a new uniform.
"Heads up I'm in a new uniform. See you out there," Grace wrote over a photo from the UW Indoor Preview in which she wore a non-sponsored, black kit. Before her Oiselle contract ended, Grace was sponsored by the female athletic apparel company since 2012.
While wearing the Nike kit for the first time in competition, Grace paced her NorCal Distance Project teammate Brie Felnagle to a world leading time of 4:27 in the indoor mile. Grace paced her training partner through 1300m in 3:36. Less than an hour later, Grace won the 800m in 2:02.29, breaking her previous indoor 800m personal best.
