USA Women's 4x4, Goucher, McCorory To Receive World Medal Upgrade In London
The 2013 USA women's 4x400m relay, Kara Goucher and Francena McCorory will receive world medal upgrades in a ceremony at the 2017 World Championships in London.
The IAAF announced today that a total of 25 athletes will be honored in four medal reallocation ceremonies at the World Championships in London, including five Americans and two gold medal events. The medal upgrades follow the disqualification of the original medalists due to anti-doping violations.
The United States' women's 4x400m relay from the 2013 Moscow World Championships will be upgraded from silver to gold. The quartet includes Jessica Beard, Natasha Hastings, Ashley Spencer and Francena McCorory. Great Britain will be promoted from bronze to silver and France will be promoted from fourth to bronze for their efforts in the same race.
McCorory will also be promoted from her fourth place individual finish in the 400m at the 2011 Daegu World Championships to a bronze medal.
Kara Goucher will be upgraded from bronze to silver for her run in the 10K at the 2007 Osaka World Championships. Fourth-placer Jo Pavey of Great Britain will be promoted from fourth to bronze in the same race.
The other gold medal to be reallocated is for Jessica Ennis of Great Britain, who will be upgraded to gold for her efforts in the heptathlon in Daegu.
