The first round of the men's 100m sprint caused an uproar in the crowd at the IAAF World Championships Friday in London as eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt completed his first race of the competition. Bolt easily advanced out of heat six with a winning time of 10.07. His countryman Julian Forte ran the fastest time of the day out of heat three with a victory in 9.99 seconds.

All three Americans advanced out of their respective heats. Christian Coleman ran the fastest time of the three with a 10.01 victory in heat one. Justin Gatlin cruised to a 10.05 winning time in heat five, and Christopher Belcher advanced by finishing third in heat four.

The semifinal of the men's 100m will take place on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. CT. The final will be at 3:45 p.m. CT.
