After being dropped from Kenya's 800m team in favor for Diamond League champion Ferguson Rotich and World Champion David Rudisha, UTEP's Michael Saruni appears to have been added back to Kenya's roster for the IAAF World Championships, which began yesterday in London.
Rudisha's late withdrawal from competition appears to have opened up a spot for Saruni to be re-added to Kenya's roster. According to IAAF's website he will run in heat six against U.S. champion Donavan Brazier.
On July 31, Saruni's coach Paul Ereng told FloTrack in response to Rudisha's withdrawal: "Saruni will not be added . . . I understand the entries are closed"
Athletics Kenya has not confirmed Saruni as a member of the 2017 squad.
