High School Freshman Tamari Davis Runs 22.48, No. 3 All-Time For Preps
Only Allyson Felix and Candace Hill have ever run faster in the 200m as high schoolers than Tamari Davis did today.

Tamari Davis proved she is more than a flash in the pan today at the Florida State Championships by running the third-fastest high school girls 200m mark of all time in 22.48 (+1.9).
The freshman at Gainesville High School handily defeated Briana Williams of Northeast, who finished second in 23.15. Williams is one of the best prep girls sprinters ever in her own right, as the 15-year-old broke Marion Jones' age group world record in the 100m with an 11.13 earlier this season.
Now, the only prep girls faster than Davis are Allyson Felix, who set the high school national record at 22.11 in 2003, and Candace Hill, who ran 22.43 to win the 2015 World Youth Championships. Both women turned pro as high schoolers.
This matchup between Davis and Williams is going to be something to watch for the years to come!

We've known about Davis for awhile—she ran 11.77 and 24.42 as a 6th grader in 2015—but her mark today catapults her into the history books way ahead of schedule.
All smiles after running 22.48 for her first 3A state title! @Floridamari pic.twitter.com/02g6CWx0KK
