The University of Texas has tabbed PattiSue Plumer to head up the women’s distance program.

The two-time Olympian has coached at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California since 2013 and has worked as an Associate Head Coach at Stanford. New Texas head coach Edrick Floreal was the head coach at Stanford from 2005 to 2012.

"I have the utmost respect for Coach Floréal as a coach and somebody who brings passion, excitement and commitment to everything he does," Plumer said in a release from the university. "I have enjoyed working with him in the past and I believe this is a place that we can accomplish great things together."

Plumer racked up nine All-American honors at Stanford during her own competitive career. She won four U.S. titles and qualified for the 1988 and 1992 Olympics.

"(Plumer) brings a great pedigree and a wealth of knowledge to share with our student-athletes as a two-time Olympian. I am excited to have her working with our women's distance group and cross country program and lead them to great success," Floréal said.

Texas was third at last year’s Big 12 Cross Country Championship and returns their top finisher, Destiny Collins.

Texas has yet to name a men’s distance/cross country coach.
