Danil Lysenko Loses Neutral Status, Barred From Competition
The IAAF has revoked the Authorize Neutral Athlete status of Russian high jumper Danil Lysenko.
The IAAF has revoked the Authorize Neutral Athlete status of Russian high jumper Danil Lysenko.
The decision means Lysenko is ineligible to compete at next week’s European Championships.
Lysenko won gold at the World Indoor Championships this March and was currently leading the Diamond League standings. But the IAAF pulled his neutral status because he “[failed] to provide whereabouts information as required under the IAAF Anti-Doping Rules and Regulations and to make himself available for out-of-competition testing.”
The Russian Federation has been suspended since 2015, but certain athletes have been permitted to compete as neutral athletes provided they meet specific criteria around anti-doping.
