World Champion Nicholas Bett Dies In Car Crash
World champion 400m hurdler Nicholas Bett of Kenya died in a car crash on Tuesday.
Kenyan 400m hurdler Nicholas Bett died in a car crash on Tuesday.
The 2015 world champion in the event was driving in Nandi County, Kenya between Eldoret and Kapsabat when his car “veered off the road and landed in a ditch.”
Bett was 28-years-old.
At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, Bett ran a personal best and Kenyan record of 47.79, to pull off one of the most surprising results of the meet.
His gold medal was the first medal of any kind for Kenya in the event.

Bett competed at last week’s African Championships where he ran 49.88 in the opening heats of the 400m hurdles.
