FloTrack NCAA Indoor Team Projections: #4 New Mexico Women

This week we are counting down the preseason top five men's and women's NCAA indoor teams. Here's a breakdown of the fourth-ranked women's team, the New Mexico Lobos.

Note: Our projections have two teams tied for fourth.

Projected Points: 38

Last year's finish: Indoor, 10th; Outdoor, 17th.

5K10SRKurgat, Ednah
3K8SOCohen, Adva
5K8SOKelati, Weini
3K6SRKurgat, Ednah
3K4SOKelati, Weini

Potential Scorers:

EVENTYRATHLETE
MileSOCohen, Adva
3KSRProuse, Charlotte

Coach's Insight: "Current plan right now is for Ednah [Kurgat] and Weini [Kelati] to double, they are potentially going to run the Millrose 3,000m. Then to get Charlotte [Prouse], Adva [Cohen] and Hannah [Nutall] qualified in the 3, see if we can get Hannah and Adva qualified in the mile and get a DMR qualified."

On competing with a distance-heavy lineup:

"It’s such a different philosophy than what most of the teams that have had the potential to get on the podium have gone on that route. So it’s so different that I don’t know if it’s necessarily on people’s radar. We’ve been thinking about this for two years. Even last year outdoors if we’d doubled some people and done some different things we may have had a different result and this year’s outdoor team could potentially score a lot of points as well."
