Stanford To Host 2019 Prefontaine Classic
With Hayward Field under construction, Stanford will host the 2019 Prefontaine Classic.
The Prefontaine Classic is moving south for 2019.
With Hayward Field under construction, the IAAF Diamond League meet will take place at Cobb Track and Angell Field on the campus of Stanford University on June 30th, according to Ken Goe of The Oregonian.
This is the first time the Prefontaine Classic will be held outside of Hayward Field since the meet's inception in 1973.
Stanford stages the annual Payton Jordan Invitational each spring and hosted the 2003 USATF Outdoor Championships.
Goe’s report states that Prefontaine Classic meet director Tom Jordan wanted the 2019 edition in-state, “but couldn’t find a facility that was adequate and available.”
