Ajee' Wilson Sets Indoor 800m American Record
Ajee' Wilson ran 1:58.60 to set the women's indoor 800m U.S. record.
At long last, the indoor 800m American record belongs to Ajee' Wilson.
The 24-year-old ran 1:58.60 to win the Millrose Games women’s 800m on Saturday, surpassing her training partner Charlene Lipsey’s 1:58.64 national record mark that had stood since 2017.

Wilson ran 1:58.27 two years ago at Millrose—in the same race that Lipsey ran 1:58.64— a mark that appeared to set the American record. However, the performance was ultimately nullified due to a failed drug test by Wilson, the cause of which was determined later to be from tainted beef. Wilson served no ban for the failed test as USADA ruled that the positive result was from "dietary habits," but she did have to forfeit the record.
But on Saturday Wilson took back control of the record, and simultaneously removed any lingering doubt as to who deserves to stand atop the U.S. indoor 800m record list.
