Mo Farah Hints At Surprise Return To The Track

While the wider track and field world has their eyes set on the USATF Outdoor Championships this week in Des Moines, reigning 10,000m world champion Mo Farah is training in Flagstaff. That’s not all he’s doing, however, as the four-time Olympic gold medalist posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday that curiously included the hashtag “#doha10k”. Hmmmmmm….

[Insert googly eye emoji here]

Farah, 36, ostensibly retired from track in 2017 to focus on the marathon. In May, Farah seemed to shut down any suggestion that he would make a return to the oval by telling The Guardian that his focus was on the Tokyo Olympic marathon. When asked if that would come at the expense of a track comeback, Farah said, “I think so, at the minute.”

Farah is committed to defending his title at the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 13, which is just a week after the 10,000m final at the World Championships in Doha on Oct. 6. Such a double is possible, but would certainly be a massive surprise.

Stay tuned.
