The rich keep getting richer as yet another distance star is set to join Nike’s Bowerman Track Club: Canadian Gabriela Debues-Stafford—sixth last fall in the 1500m at the World Championships— will transition her training to Portland, Oregon, as she joins Jerry Schumacher’s world class group in the fall.

Debues-Stafford, 24, previously trained with Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie under coach Andy Young in Scotland. She enjoyed a massive breakthrough last season as she made her first global championship final and lowered her 1500m PB by seven seconds to 3:56.12. She owns national records in the indoor and outdoor 1500m, mile and 5,000m.

The Bowerman women have been tearing up the track this summer in team time trial events, with both Shelby Houlihan (14:23) and Karissa Schweizer (14:26) breaking 14:30 in the 5,000m and each going under the old U.S. record. Adding in a talent like Debues-Stafford, and 2019 NCAA 1500m champion Sinclaire Johnson, will no doubt make the group even stronger on a team that keeps churning out one superstar after another.
