Arkansas Star Taylor Werner Signs With Puma
Arkansas All-American Taylor Werner will forgo her remaining track eligibility to turn professional, according to sources.
University of Arkansas All-American Taylor Werner has turned professional and signed with Puma, according to multiple sources. Werner will join a newly established Puma-sponsored group in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
It is unclear as of yet who will coach the Chapel Hill group and what other athletes will be joining.
Werner, who was fourth in the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships and the Razorbacks’ No. 2 scorer on their championship team, was a six-time All-American in Fayetteville. In 2019, she finished runner-up in the NCAA indoor 3,000m and outdoor 5,000m.
The 22-year-old had indoor and outdoor track eligibility remaining, but her collegiate cross country career was up.
While redshirting last indoor season, Werner lowered her 5,000m personal best to 15:11.19 last December in Boston. The time would have broken the collegiate indoor record had she been competing in uniform.
