As the home of one of the largest indoor and outdoor track & field complexes in the world, SPIRE’s whole athlete training programs are ideal for the intense training needed to become a successful athlete. SPIRE’s campus features a 300-meter indoor track and a 400-meter outdoor track, with separate areas for field events and stadium seating. SPIRE gives high school and post-grad athletes the opportunity to not only train at a world-class facility but also to train under some of the biggest names in the industry.
Names like Kibwé Johnson, a two-time Olympian and one of the nation’s best hammer throwers of all time. During his career, Kibwé secured five US titles, five US runner-ups and numerous US national teams. With a personal best of 65.11m/213’6” in the discus and 25.12m/82’5” in weight throw, Kibwé is the most versatile throws athlete of all time and has earned his spot at SPIRE as Director of Track & Field and Head Coach – Throws.
And names like Tim Mack, SPIRE’s Program Development Director and Head Coach – Vertical and Horizontal Jumps. Tim, an expert in sprint training, weight training, mental training and gymnastic training, won Olympic gold in 2004 in pole vaulting. His unique approach to training and coaching has drawn some of the top athletes to SPIRE in recent years to take their talents to the next level.
Joining SPIRE means special access to coaches and recruiters through exposure from some of the top collegiate programs in the country. SPIRE is committed to developing skilled track & field athletes through an intensive regimen of technical and tactical training, customized competition and long-term athletic performance development.
SPIRE is more than sports, though. SPIRE provides superior academic opportunities featuring a blended learning environment of college preparatory academics along with unique personal development and career preparation features, while post grad athletes can earn college credit by taking two core classes per semester. All students are welcomed into SPIRE’s college planning and placement program, which has placed athletes at top colleges and universities all across the nation.
