CAA Track & Field Weekly Awards -- May 3
A pair of Northeastern runners and pair of William & Mary throwers took home the CAA weekly honors.
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has announced its final track and field weekly awards of the 2022 season. A pair of Northeastern runners and pair of William & Mary throwers claimed honors. Alexander Korczynski Ava Duggan of Northeastern earned CAA Men’s and Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, respectively. Meanwhile, Chris Arias and Keeley Suzenski of William & Mary collected the respective honors of CAA Men’s and Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ava Duggan, Northeastern
Sophomore | Distance | Milton, Mass. / Milton HS
Duggan recorded a personal-best of 4:30.43 in the 1500m at the UMass Outdoor Invitational to take third in the event. The time ranks fifth in the conference this season and is the third-best mark in Northeastern program history.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Keeley Suzenski, William & Mary
Redshirt Sophomore | Throws | Fleetwood, Pa. / Berks Catholic
Suzenski established the league’s top mark in the discus at the Penn Relays, finishing third in her division with a personal-best mark of 50.16m (164-07). Her throw ranks 47th in the NCAA East Region and is the third-best performance in Tribe program history. Additionally, Suzenski competed in the shot put, placing fourth in her division with a mark of 14.84m (48-08.25). She currently owns the conference’s best throw in the shot put with her season-best throw of 14.93m.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alexander Korczynski, Northeastern
Senior | Distance | Willimantic, Conn. / Windham HS
Korczynski won the 1500m at the UMass Outdoor Invitational with a personal-best time of 3:47.30. His time is the second-fastest in the conference this season and cracks the top ten all-time in Northeastern program history, ranking ninth.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Chris Arias, William & Mary
Redshirt Freshman | Throws | Red Bank, N.J. / Christian Brothers Academy
Arias placed third in his division of the javelin at the Penn Relays with a mark of 64.94m (213-01). Arias owns the conference’s top mark in the event this season with a throw of 68.35m. The redshirt freshman ranks 22nd in the NCAA East Region and 32nd nationally with his top mark this spring.
