Frequently legends of track and field love to return to the stadiums where they dominated in years past to witness the current generation of stars. Kevin Selby had the chance to catch up with two such gentleman at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational.
Don Bowden was the first American to break 4:00 for the mile. He was a member of the 1956 US Olympic team. Bowden ran 3:58.7 at a collegiate at the Pacific Association Championships in Stockton, CA in 1957.
Jerry Siebert was on the 1960 and 1964 Olympic teams. He placed 6th in the 800 in 1964. Siebert owns a lifetime best of 1:46.3 in the 800 and was the member of a world record setting 2 mile relay team.
