Last season, the University of Delaware women’s basketball team saw a bit of a letdown under first-year head coach Sarah Jenkins, at least compared to recent success, but Blue Hens definitely are on the radar this year.
Here come the Blue Hens! The University of Delaware announced Friday its plans to add a Division I women's ice hockey program to their athletic offerings starting in the 2025-26 season. The fledgling team will join College Hockey America, becoming the conference's seventh team and the 45th program in women's Division I hockey in the NCAA.
UAlbany and Richmond capped the 2023 regular season in the same spot, both earning a share of the Coastal Athletic Association championship.
The Delaware men’s basketball team is coming off a mediocre season that saw the Blue Hens turn in a 17-16 overall record and 8-10 mark in Coastal Athletic Association action. They were bounced from the quarterfinals of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship by Towson.

University of Delaware administration announced on Tuesday, Nov. 28, that the school's athletic program will leave the Coastal Athletic Association at the completion of the 2024-25 academic calendar year.
Both Delaware and its Coastal Athletic Association counterpart Richmond were in the late second quarters of their 1st Round FCS Playoffs at the same time. And, there was a point when their overlapping contests found them trailing by 34 combined points — Richmond down 20-7 to North Carolina Central, Delaware behind Lafayette, 28-7.

The 1st Round of the 2023 FCS Playoffs features a pair of games involving Coastal Athletic Association teams: Delaware hosts Patriot League champion Lafayette, while Richmond welcomes North Carolina Central to Robins Stadium.
Each of the four Coastal Athletic Association teams with the strongest cases for the 2023 FCS Playoffs field — co-champions UAlbany, Richmond and Villanova, along with Delaware — landed bids to the postseason.
