Texas high schooler Jonathan Simms cruised to an insane split on the 4x400m anchor at AAU Junior Olympics on Thursday.

Simms, a 16-year-old rising senior at Allen (TX) High School, clocked 44.76 on the final leg of the 4x400m to help Impact Track Club to a heat win in the 15-16-year-old boys prelims on day 6 of the competition.

It should come as no surprise, though, to those who have watched Simms race this outdoor season. In June, Simms logged an open 400m PR of 45.90 at Brooks PR Invitational to rank as one of the top 10 400m racers in the country this season.

But perhaps what's more shocking is that Simms' elite 400m leg came just a day after he won a competitive 15-16-year-old 800m final in an all-time best of 1:51.69.

The mid-distance star will put his quarter-mile speed to the test again on Friday in the opening round of the open 400m.
