Best of 2010 - Coach of the Year

Even if you have the talent of these names- Chris Solinsky, Shalane Flanagan, Matt Tegenkamp, Simon Bairu, Evan Jager and Tim Nelson- you still have to be able to coach them at a level to compete with the best in the World. In 2010, Jerry Shumacher did just that. In the men's 10,000, Schumacher had three of the top 21 ranked athletes in the World. He coach the first US woman in 20 years to a second place finish at one of the biggest marathons in the world. Jerry has continued to raise the standard over the past few years as we really saw big strides made in 2009 with the three members of the US 5k team all from his group. As we round the turn and come into World Championship and Olympic years, Schumacher gives us something to look forward to when we think about US athletes competing for some medals!
