Cal's Deborah Maier overcomes mid season injury before NCAA XC Champs 2011

Deborah Maier, the Cal senior who made her first trip to the NCAA Championships a year ago where she finished 30th, started the season off in style winning the Roy Griak Invite while looking smooth and dominant. She followed it up placing third at the most competitive meet in the country, the Wisconsin Invite, only 8 seconds behind race winner and NCAA returning Champ Sheila Reid. After Wisco Maier suffered an ankle injury and was forced to sit out of the Pac-12 Championships, a race she would have contended for a win. Back now and finishing runner-up at the West Regional, Maier looks to be ready for what's to come as she leads her team to Terre Haute for the first time in 23 years!
