Walter Davis retires after 3rd place and missing TJ A standard at 2012 US Olympic Trials

Walter Davis, the most consistent name in US triple jump over the past 12 years announces his retirement after finishing 3rd at the 2012 US Olympic Trials in Eugene. Davis' jump, although in the top three, did not meet the Olympic A standard which will keep Davis from going to the London Games. Between the years 2000 to 2011 Davis made every US team with the exception of the 2008 Olympics. Davis was a four time World Championships medalist, including two gold medals in the triple jump at the 2005 World Indoor and Outdoor Championships. He passes the torch on to the young guys Christian Taylor and Will Claye, while also leaving them with some words of advice.
