1. Rupp outkicks Lagat, Men's 5k

There were hardly any surprises for top three in the men's 5k final,  but Galen Rupp  had an amazing performance to end the night and his Olympic Trials double with a victory in the 10k Friday as well as the 5k tonight. Rupp blew everyone away when he edged out American record holder Bernard Lagat for the win in a 13.22.67,  just barely breaking the 40 year-old meet record set by Steve Prefontaine in 1972.  Lopez Lomong followed in third place with a time of 13:24.47.

2. Culley upset/Conley shocks, Women's 5k

The women's 5k final proved to be big surprise as Julie Culley outkicked American record holder Molly Huddle in the final lap. It was looking pretty good for Julia Lucas who assumed the lead with 1200 meters to go, but she ended up being passed by Culley and Huddle on the backstretch of the bell lap.  Culley ran a 15:13.77, which was a bit faster than her 5k personal best even after running a prelim a couple days earlier.  Kim Conley hung on and followed close behind with a 15:19.79, not only beating her personal best by over five seconds but also hitting the Olympic A standard to secure her spot on the Olympic team.

3. Evan Jager, Steeplechase

The men's steeplechase final was a huge break out race for the newcomer as Evan Jager took the lead from Don Cabral and won the final in a time of 8:17.40, a new personal best for the OTC athlete.  It has been a dream season for Jager, who is new to the steeplechase as of this season. Cabral followed in 8:19.81 sporting a new Nike jersey instead of Princeton orange and was trailed by Kyle Alcorn in 8:22.49. This will be the first  Olympic team for Jager, Cabral, and Alcorn.

4. Lance Brooks, Discus

The men's discus final was one to watch as Lance Brooks fouled on his 4th and 5th attempt, but was able to throw the Olympic A standard with a throw of 65.15 for his final attempt.  This was the first time that Brooks has ever hit the Olympic A Standard.  The throw also put him into first place in the final, ahead of Jarred Rome, who will be competing for his second Olympic team, and Jason Young, who will be competing for his first Olympic team.

5. Brad Walker/Derek Miles, Pole Vault

Brad Walker, the American record holder in the men's pole vault proved his superiority in the event yet again this season with a winning height of 5.67m, which was .07 meters ahead of the next four vaulters who all jumped 5.60m.  Derek Miles, 4th place finisher in 2008 in Beijing, finished 4th out of the 11 athletes in the final, but was still able to advance because he had already hit the Olympic A Standard earlier in the season.
