Devon Allen is a Quadruple Threat, Throws up Breakfast to Run 4x400m

After sitting out due to injury for all of 2015, Devon Allen made his much-anticipated return to Hayward Field and gave fans an entertaining show to boot. The football and track star opened the Pepsi Invitational by running the first leg of the 4x100m relay, where the Ducks claimed the victory in 40.06. He returned to easily win the 110m hurdles in 13.40, which tied the NCAA-leading mark he set two weeks prior. Soon after, Allen was back on the track to take on the 400m hurdles, which he also won in 52.25 seconds. Allen admitted that weeks of hard training and a large breakfast caught up with him after the 400m hurdle win, and he threw up his meal of corned beef hash, eggs and a pancake prior to the final event of the day, the 4x400m relay. Thanks to the quadruple threat contributed by Allen, the Ducks tied Penn State for the team title on Saturday.

Sage Watson Runs NCAA No. 1 and World Lead in 400m Hurdles

A monstrous effort in the 400m hurdles by Arizona’s Sage Watson catapulted the sprinter to an NCAA- and world-leading time at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson. The transfer from Florida State has acclimated well to the Arizona program with the help of training partner and Olympian, Georganne Moline, and the results are showing. Her victory, won in 55.45, is a personal best by 0.52 seconds.

Bralon Taplin Blasts 400m PR and World Lead of 44.41

It didn’t take long for Grenadian sprinter Bralon Taplin to recover from a disappointing race at World Indoors as the former Texas A&M star blasted a world-leading time of 44.41 in the 400m at the Sun Angel Classic. Taplin’s performance beat runner-up Fred Kerley of Texas A&M by 0.69 seconds and improved his previous personal best by 0.48 seconds.

Shaquille Walker Runs Fastest NCAA 800m Since 2012

Since returning to competition last year after his two-year mission in England, Shaq Walker has taken the NCAA by storm, and Saturday was no exception. The BYU standout ran 1:44.99 to claim the 800m victory Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic. The mark is a massive personal best and the fastest time run by an NCAA athlete in season since Charles Jock ran 1:44.75 at the 2012 Big West Championships.

Colby Gilbert Drops Edward Cheserek With Massive 5K PR

In the most surprising race of the weekend, Washington’s Colby Gilbert dropped 13-time NCAA Champion Edward Cheserek with 200m remaining in the Pepsi Invite 5K to claim the victory with a personal best of 13:44, six seconds ahead of the Oregon Duck. Gilbert’s performance improved upon his previous best by over 20 seconds and marked one of the few times where the most decorated NCAA distance runner in history was defeated.

Michael Norman, Josephus Lyles, Noah Lyles: The Future of U.S. Sprinting

The Arcadia Invitational has historically produced fast high school races, and this year’s competition was no exception as Michael Norman, Josephus Lyles and Noah Lyles laid down hot performances in California. Norman, a senior from Vista Murrieta, won the 400m race against cross-country rival Josephus in 45.51, while Lyles crossed the line in 45.94. Both performances rank in the top 20 in the world so far this year. Noah swept both the 100m (10.17) and 200m (20.48) in the fastest outdoor debuts ever in his young career. His 100m performance is tied for the eighth-best performance in prep history.

Keni Harrison Clocks Ninth-Fastest 100m Hurdle Mark All-Time

In a stellar outdoor season debut, Keni Harrison flew to a personal best of 12.36 to claim the 100m hurdle victory Friday at the Spec Towns Invitational. The performance is 0.14 faster than her previous personal best, and ties for the ninth-fastest all-time in the world. According to IAAF.com, no other hurdler has ever run faster this early on in the season, and it was also the fastest-ever wind-legal season opener by a 100m hurdler.

Alysha Newman Sets Canadian Pole Vault Record and NCAA Lead

The senior from Miami leapt to a record-setting day in the pole vault Saturday at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Alysha Newman not only set a new school record and claimed the NCAA lead, but also set a Canadian national record and earned the fourth-best clearance in the world this year. Her winning mark of 4.60m improved upon her previous best of 4.52m, which she set in a previous attempt in the weekend's competition. Before Saturday, Newman held a lifetime best mark of 4.50m.

Braxton Drummond Claims NCAA Lead in Long Jump

The Charleston Southern standout took advantage of the momentum generated at the Hurricane Alumni Invite in the long jump, where he set a personal best of 8.10m. The mark currently leads the NCAA standings by a whopping 0.16m. The performance not only won this weekend's competition, but also secured a spot to contend in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in July. Prior to Saturday, Drummond’s all-time best mark was 7.82m, set at the Virginia Tech Indoor Invitational last year.
