Carina Viljoen via South Africa (2:11 800m; 4:28 1500m; 9:48 3K)
Analysis:
Arkansas may lose their ace in NCAA champion Dominique Scott, but they return a rising squad ready to take on the best in the country.
This year, Lance Harter's Razorbacks will be led by sophomore stud Devin Clark, who is returning from a standout track season that included a fifth-place finish and a personal best of 9:49 in the NCAA steeplechase final. The performance broke the American junior record and improved upon her previous personal best by five seconds. Senior Valerie Reina is also poised to compete well in the fall after notching personal bests of 16:06 in the 5K and 34:13 in the 10K on her way to a third-place finish at the SEC championships. Regan Ward and Sydney Brown will also return to contribute as key scorers for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas receives a talented class of freshmen in Foot Locker fifth-place finisher Taylor Werner, Foot Locker top-20 finalist Abby Gray, 10:19 3200m runner Maddy Reed, and South African transplant Carina Viljoen. All four could make an immediate impact on the team, and help Arkansas to a top-15 finish at NCAAs.
