Boston Marathon weekend is nearly upon us, and one of the first big races will take place on Saturday morning beginning on Charles Street, with the B.A.A. 5K set to feature a list of heavy-hitting professionals and roughly other 10,000 entrants.

On the men's side, three athletes with PRs under 13 minutes -- including Kenyan Edwin Kurgat, who clocked a time of 12:57.52 indoors at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in February -- will take center stage. Canadian Ben Flanagan and American Cooper Teare, who will jump back into a road race after finishing ninth at the 5th Avenue Mile last year in New York City, are among the contenders. 

On the women's side, Vanessa Fraser, who recently inked with Saucony, will enter with the top 5K seed time, while Rachel Smith, Taylor Werner, Annie Rodenfels, Kim Conley will follow. Rodenfels is coming off an indoor campaign where she opened in December at Boston University with a 5K time of 15:03.97.

Recent U.S. Olympic Trials marathon third-place finisher Dakota Lindwurm will also feature in the race for the first time since her epic performance in Orlando.
